The Bolton Windows (North 1 &  2) "This woman hath given more than them all" is the text across these two windows on the north aisle near to the War Memorial.  It is the response of Jesus on seeing a poor woman give two mites of her small savings as opposed to the gifts of the rich men peeping through the curtains!  (Mark 12: 41-44 / Luke 21: 1-4). ”To the Glory of God, the gift of John William Bolton Esq. and to commemorate his office as Organist during the period of the Great European War.  To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Elizabeth Ann wife of John William Bolton Esq. who departed this life April 13th 1917.” The Butterworth Window (North 3) Mary the mother of Jesus, after the visit of the angel Gabriel, visited her cousin Elisabeth to share her news, and then spoke the beautiful words of what we know as the "Magnificat" (Luke 1: 46-55).  “My soul doth magnify the Lord”.  The window was given “To the Glory of God and in memeory of John James Butterworth who departed this life September 13th 1911 and also Alice his widow who departed this life July 28th 1916”.
