The John & Sarah Mills Windows (Porch South) As we move through the porch towards the doors into church, the pair of windows on our right depict another visitor to the tomb early on Easter Day.  Mary Magdalen has brought spices to anoint the body of Jesus, but she is distraught because she thinks the body has been stolen. She only recognises Jesus when He speaks to her by name, and gives her the message that He is going to the Father. The window was given in memory of the Mills family, who chose the text to give reassurance to us all, that one day, we too will go to our God.  The text on the first window confirms the family's sincere trust in the power of the Risen Lord  I ascend into my father and your father and to my God and your God.” The window has been damaged on a number of occasions and the date mark ‘1973’ on the bottom left refers to one of the repairs. The dedication across the bottom of the windows reads -“In ever loving memory of John Frederick Mills who died 25th December 1927 aged 73 years & his wife Sarah Jane who died 16th January 1947 aged 90 years.  Devoted members of this church for 40 years.” Made with Xara Web Designer The Parish of St. Paul Oldham
