The Lansdell Window (Porch West) This is actually the first window you would see on entering the church foyer and is on your left.  It  is a depiction of the first Easter Day, with the angels explaining to the disciples that "He is not here, He is Risen" (Matthew 28: 6).   We can see the entrance to the garden tomb, and the stone rolled away from the entrance. The Disciples look shocked, as well they might, because the body of their beloved leader has disappeared. They didn't yet know the glorious news of the Resurrection but this is predicted by the text near the bottom of the window They shall rise to Him in Glory.”  The dedications display a somewhat old-fashioned sensitivity to death using two different expressions, presumably to make these losses easier to bear.: “To the Glory of God and in loving remembrance of Alice, wife of George James Lansdell (daughter of James Lees Page) who fell asleep 13th August 1919.“ “Also of Dorothy Page, youngest daughter of the above named George James and Alice Lansdell who was called home 12th January 1911.” Made with Xara Web Designer The Parish of St. Paul Oldham
